Billed as the first resort in the Caribbean, The Crane Hotel is an historic hotel located right on the pink sands of Crane Beach on the southeastern coast of Barbados. Set on limestone cliffs and encompassing courtyards with manicured sculpture and flower gardens, the resort appeals to holidaymakers seeking relaxation and seclusion.
Guests can choose to stay in the historic hotel building, the private residences or villas. Rooms in the historic hotel range from standard rooms to spacious two-bedroom suites, and feature classically inspired furnishings, four-poster beds, botanical print fabrics and dark wood floors. Each room has distinct features and amenities, from terraces with views of the grounds or ocean, to private sitting rooms and kitchens. The private residences range from junior suites to three-bedroom suites with balconies or patios, and many feature private swimming pools. Villas are more modern in style, with kitchens, private patios and pools.
The L’Azure Restaurant is an elegant open-air dining venue that has been serving guests at the resort for over a century. It features classic Caribbean cuisine, and on Sundays a traditional Barbadian Sunday lunch is served accompanied by live Caribbean gospel music. Zen restaurant, overlooking the beach, has tatami rooms, a Sushi bar and a private dining area and offers authentic Thai and Japanese cuisine. Formerly a stable, the Carriage House Poolside Restaurant has a casual ambiance and serves a variety of light snacks and tropical cocktails.
There are several unique pool areas at The Crane. The main pool is set on a deck overlooking the ocean and is Romanesque in style with white stone and plaster pillars. A cascading pool complex includes three lagoon-style pools connected by waterfalls, and the infinity pool is situated between two restored ruins and offers panoramic views. Activities off site can be arranged through the concierge.
