On the French side of St. Martin, La Plantation is set on a hillside above Orient Bay and its two-mile white sand beach. The resort has a plantation-style main building and 17 villas, located in a private 7.5 acre tropical garden. It has been voted one of the best small hotels in the Caribbean by the readers of Caribbean Travel & Life.

Each villa, done in French West Indies plantation style, has one suite and two studios.  All have large terraces and views of the bay. Some categories of rooms have partial sea views or garden views. All rooms and suites have been recently renovated, decorated in bright tropical colors, with tile floors, hand-painted wall murals and peaked wooden roofs painted sea-foam green.  Suites have full kitchens; studio rooms have kitchenettes.  Bathrooms have handcrafted tile with walk-in rain showers and two sinks.

The hotel has a private swimming pool, two tennis courts lit for night play, a library, complimentary WI-FI zone, a bar and restaurant. Buffet breakfast and lunch are served at the poolside Café La Plantation, which for dinner is one of the island’s local favorites, particularly for its Monday lobster evening.

All water sports are available on the beach, and the hotel’s concierge can arrange for excursions, horseback riding, kite surfing and other diversions. In addition, the hotel is walking distance to the beach restaurants of Orient Bay.
