For a not-so-typical workout that packs a punch, New Yorkers head to Aerospace High Performance Center, where physical training is of not only of body, but also of mind and spirit. Crafting an unlikely combination of vigor and calm, former champion boxer Michael Olajide Jr. and former ballet dancer Leila Fazel have designed a studio in which professional boxing rings are offset with lavish spa amenities, creating a one-of-a-kind fitness experience. This innovative center does away with cardio machines and focuses on the body’s inner strength with singular workouts that have caught the attention of fitness-minded celebs like supermodel Veronica Webb.
The 7,000-square-foot interior of the center houses sleek and minimally designed open space and studios, as well as an impact training center for heart-pumping boxing workouts and sculpting programs. Group classes and private training sessions run the gamut from kickboxing and all-over muscle toning to jump rope exercises, while an Aeropod space hosts virtual training complete with video imaging and surround sound.
After working up a sweat lunging, jumping and punching, a treatment in one of the center’s soothing relaxation suites is well earned. Services here include massages, reflexology, meditation and yoga, and an Aero lounge and locker rooms are also located on site.
