Luxury Retail and Fine Dining in a Prime NYC Location
Like razor blades shooting into the sky, two thin glass towers rising 80 stories above most of New York City mark the Time Warner Center. A relatively recent architectural addition to the New York skyline, this $1.7 billion complex was completed in 2003 and is best known as a New York shopping and restaurant destination. The Shops at Columbus Circle might be New York City’s first shopping mall, but they’re not a traditional mall. Luxury retailers that specialize in men’s and women’s wear, fragrance, electronics and jewelry abound throughout the four floors that form the base of the building. A Williams-Sonoma sits at the entrance and features an open demonstration kitchen, where top NYC chefs are found daily. Aside from the free food there, the Shops also offer five-star restaurants that are some of the best in New York. Sushi mecca Masa offers just one seating a night, while Landmarc and A Voce feature sweeping views and more classic food. Celebrated chef Thomas Keller’s only offerings outside Napa Valley are also found here, at Per Se and Bouchon Bakery. Before you tuck into the fabulous food, settle in for the ultimate pre-dinner drink at the Lobby Lounge in the Mandarin Oriental, located on the 35th floor of the north tower. The serious drop is enhanced by expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that envelop the sunken lounge. Sip a civilized cocktail and float above the glorious Columbus Circle Fountain, admiring the vista from this Central Park hotel. There’s no better place to feel like the king or queen of New York.
