Haute Chocolate

MarieBelle, SoHo

Haute Chocolate - MARIE BELLE Travel Video duration – 3.26 minutes Marie Belle SoHo, New York City Travel Video Retail Therapy We’re at Marie Belle and we’re going to go inside and the owner herself, Marie Belle, is going to tell us what makes her chocolate so unique and amazing and delicious, so why are we wasting time, let’s go. Wow!!! Talk about chocolate wonderland. Hi, it’s nice to meet you. Marie Belle, it’s a pleasure to meet you. It’s a pleasure to you. I mean look at these. Well these are Vargas images from the 1950s, everything is hand painted and the reward is chocolate inside. Are you kidding! Piece of art with chocolate inside, this is great. Yeah you know everything in this store is about…to please the eyes and the palate. Well I’m ready to please the palate, let’s go. Ok I need to ask you some questions. I am a chocolate addict so I’m loving this place… That’s what I like I know and I give these as gifts all the time and it’s really amazing when you take the lid off, the painting and the uniqueness really just hits you in the face. To me chocolate is a whole experience and that’s why people when they open the box, they get very shocked you know to see all these beautiful things and I have got customers call saying that they don’t want to eat it, they kept it for one year and when they went to eat it, they were all molded. So because they happen to be very short shelf life, you know they are all hand made and they don’t have any preservatives so…and I tried to do a lot of ganache. Ganache is infusing different flavors some you know fresh flavors. You have some really unique flavors like earl gray, saffron, champagne…Before I try one, because I don’t think I can wait any longer, very quickly, what’s your best selling flavor? Try, you know we have a lot of best selling flavors but the passion fruit is the… I’m going to try that one. This one with the two people looking like very in love Yeah exactly Ummm it’s so good, I can hug you. How about I’m going to give you a hug…it’s so good! These are the best ever. Research has shown that there really are a lot of benefits that can come from eating a bit of high quality chocolate like the kind sold at Marie Belle. You see coco beans contain flavonoids and flavonoids are antioxidants and antioxidants are a good thing. My advice, stick with chocolate that’s labeled 60 percent cacao or higher. Then you can have your cake and eat it too. Oh my gosh this café is amazing, it’s incredible. Tell me about what made you come up with this design, I mean I felt like I’m in Paris. Inspiration comes from Vienna and Paris and it’s all actually a very cozy place where people can come and relax and have their own Azteco chocolate. Tell me about the Azteco chocolate Well the inspiration comes from the Aztecs; they were the first ones who started using the chocolate for drinking and it’s made with water herein you can add some spices to it too. It’s very strong, it’s wonderful though. It’s been a dream come true for me. Thank you so much for having us, I mean I’m a chocoholic so I’m in like in a playground here. Well Thank you for coming and I really wait, I can’t wait to see you come back.

You Can Have Your Art and Eat it Too at MarieBelle

Chocoholics, take note: With just one step through MarieBelle’s door, you are instantly transported into a whimsical world of designer confections that taste just as good as they look, if not better. After all, New Yorkers take their desserts very seriously, and chocolates are no exception. The fanciful store is known for the decadent, ganache-filled squares that line its cases, each embellished with artful drawings and patterns to delight, as well as for their unique flavors, like dulce de leche, champagne, white kona coffee bean and lavender. Have a little time on your hands (or maybe you just need a break from all that museum-hopping)? Then sit back in the antique furnishings of MarieBelle’s plush, European-style cocoa bar and tea salon and enjoy a lusciously smooth sip of the shop’s signature Aztec Hot Chocolate, which is arguably among the best in the city; in the warm summer months, homemade gelato, sorbet and smoothies do the trick. You’ll find chocolates, caramels, dragées and biscuits, as well as fine teas and coffees, neatly packaged in darling boxes worthy of any jewel.
