LOOKING GOOD MON' Travel Video duration – 5.59 minutes Looking Good Mon Breezes Resort, Montego Bay, Jamaica Travel Video Look – Caribbean Style You know I’ve seen high end fashion in Barbados, I have seen street stands in St. Lucia but now I’m in Jamaica where I feel the heart of Caribbean style is. I’m standing at the lovely Breezes hotel in Montego Bay, Jamaica. A friend of mine, Pablo Palair is a fashion designer here in Jamaica. I’m gonna go take a look at his fashion house where everything gets made, from the bottom to the top. (Music) Montego Bay at sunset Island of Jamaica. (Voices in the background) Pablo Palair, Fashion Designer, Jamaica. How’s fashion? Wonderful…Very much wonderful. Yeah Yes So this is some of the stuff that you are doing? Yeah this is the present Miss Jamaica, actually… Wow. This is crazy man. So this is where it all started. Yeah this is where it all started. As you can see, this is the fastest man in the world in the world, Asafa Powell; I’m gonna do wonderful stuff with him. So, let me…show me around, I haven’t seen your place since I… Alright just come on in. Right now, this is the production place; real production. This is the cutting table as you can see he’s taking the pants from the start to the finish. This is the biz pants. Yes this is the back pocket; he’s doing the back pocket of the pants. We have a wide variety of work done here. As you can see this is (Name) she’s keeping it real cool. Here is a young guy that is leaving school, he’s still at school and he’s doing it quite well here as you can see learning the skills to be professional. Yeah when I came to Jamaica, whatever I like wherever I see it in magazines, this is where it all started. This is where it started. And I’ve been here roughly nine years now and, actually, fashion is something I love. I grow in it, I do nothing else but clothing. And I like to see the clothes fit on the ladies and I like to see the presentation ------… So that’s where everything started. Just looking at clothes looking at people in the clothes, it’s very very wonderful for me. Nice man, I want to talk a little about your inspirations you know. O.K. tell you, It’s like you know the fashion is taking over the place, right now. Jamaican fashion is all dominant and to be consistent with it you have to be all focused about everybody wears because everything changes and you have keep focus on the younger guys. Caribbean fashion is you know it, and in Jamaica? Trust me it’s taking over the place right now, growing up. Jamaican fashion is tropical and it’s wonderful. Even though it’s like western English style of dressing, what makes it Jamaican? Yeah Jamaica just loves the colors and the matching too. The colors and the matching… . So I want to go to the store and check out some of the… We can go across there and we can see what’s happening I gotta tell you I’m really very busy. But I can tell you that you can see…the door over there. So the store is open? Yeah have a nice day take care…I’ll meet ya again, alright. How you doin man? What’s up dude…? How are things goin? What’s your name? Leroy I notice you have a Pablo shirt on. Pablo told me to come in here. It’s kind of stylish. Well as you can see in Pablo’s line what I like about him…kind of urban tropical chic combined with the different elements of urban lifestyle…and the tropical vibes you notice the colors they are representing. It’s easy you know it’s like this is very breezy and stuff like that so I’m trying to hook up with a couple of names. Ok I’ve seen this color so much in Jamaica. I didn’t I just, you know I think about this, I think about music, I think about reggae but so I guess this is very much signature. These are Ethiopian colors. You know Jamaicans and Ethiopians are very strongly linked because of the Rastafarian kind of vibes. So we celebrate our African culture by having these colors in here. We have a stamp of approval on these colors. You know you’ve been telling me about Jamaican vibes and on what’s going on, let’s get a lady’s opinion on it. Ok. About how she feels about, you know… Excuse me how you doin…I’m mobilizing you… Hi I’m Saloni. What makes you wear that…Jamaican culture? You know. It’s relaxed it’s enjoyable, lots of color the green. However it’s how you dress it up actually, it’s how you feel when you wear it. It’s how you enjoy it you know the whole Jamaican relaxed vibes, you enjoy yourselves. Have you heard of Pablo Palair? Yes actually my boyfriend likes his stuff. Ok. If you were going abroad you were goin to rep Jamaica, you wanted to feel like one of Pablo’s shirts would give you that energy, it gives you that vibes…which one would you pick? Or would you stick with the colors like this? I think his, I think his. It’s representing not just Jamaica not just vibes, it’s representing our culture. This shirt says a lot. Ok. Cool. Thank you for giving me your opinions on my journey. Young lady nice to meet you. So thank you. Nice to meet you. (Music) You know traveling through the Caribbean from the relaxed vibes of St. Lucia, Barbados to the dominant vibes of Jamaica, you realize that they‘re all influenced by the same thing Music, Culture and Nature. You know it’s the charm; it’s the feeling, it’s the laidback lifestyle, these are the things that make it Caribbean.
