The resort’s architecture is traditionally Mexican in style, with a spacious lobby flaunting high ceilings, tiled floors, a central chandelier, potted palms and sofas upholstered in earth tones. Accommodations are simple in design, with light green walls and bedding, brown furnishings, tile floors and ceiling fans. Double Rooms come with mini bars, satellite televisions, in-room safes, liquor dispensers and balconies or terraces, while Junior Suites additionally offer living room areas and bathrooms with tubs and bidets.

There are a number of dining options available at the Riu Tequila, including the resort’s main restaurant, Jalisco, where cooking is a spectacle for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the buffet stations. The restaurant even hosts special theme buffet dinners twice a week. Bamboo serves an Asian-fusion buffet, while the Beach Club provides dining right on the beach and La Lupita, the poolside restaurant, entices with a swim-up bar. Bars like the Maguey lounge and El Kiosko, as well as La Piñata nightclub are home to on-site nightlife.

Guests can relax on sun loungers by one of two swimming pools or in the sauna and Jacuzzi. A gym is available for those who wish to stay active during their vacation. Land activities here include tennis and volleyball, and water sports like windsurfing, kayaking and body boarding are available. A separate pool entertains children and daytime and evening activity programs are provided for guests of all ages. Visitors also have access to an 18-hole golf course located nearby and the Renova spa for massages and beauty treatments.
