Waterlot Inn at The Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda

Timeless Gourmet Hotel Video duration – 2.15minutes The Waterlot Inn Fairmont Southampton Hotel, Bermuda Hotel Video Gourmet – Regionale Barry Cohen Manager, The Waterlot Inn Hello Emily Hi Barry Welcome. It’s great to have you with us. Oh, so royal Of course You’re at the Waterlot Inn. The moment I walked in here. I was just amazed at all these amazing artifacts and like this great map over here. What you’re looking at is a great piece from the 1800’s. You know, that just helps set the tone and a feel for, you know, the history that’s here at the Waterlot Inn. I mean, we’ve had so many people, through history, share their meals with us, or stay here while we were an inn, the list is so long, it’s just amazing. So, this place used to be an inn? Yeah, that’s correct. All the way from 1670 to 1949, it was in the same family line, the Darrell family and they ran it as an inn until the surviving member, her name was Claudia Darrell passed on in 1949. After that, people who bought it stayed in the inn, keeping business and it generally over time, it became a restaurant only when Princess Hotel took it over in 1970. Was this stuff originally here? I notice some really cool artifacts - a compass on the stairs and some butcher knives upstairs. Upstairs, we have some great old wooden tables that were brought over by ship from New Orient. You know, they probably date back again to the early 1800’s. The part of the room that we are in right now was added on. This was an outdoor patio and then as we became a dining room, we needed more space, we obviously closed it in and gave ourselves more seating to accommodate our guests’ needs. So, with the beautiful view that you see looking out at the Jew’s Bay, it’s just the perfect setting, the sun sets right out here, so …. Yeah, the Bay over there……

Breathtaking Sunsets, Inventive Cuisine and World-Class Service

Serving up Bermudan food since the late 1600s, this waterfront inn, which once stored sailors’ bounty in its basement, is now home to an award-winning steak house. Three nautical-themed dining rooms, complete with exposed wood beams, Windsor chairs and oil paintings of clipper ships, give you that captain’s quarters feel. A Colonial staircase leads to an upstairs cocktail area, where a classical pianist churns out Chopin. An outdoor terrace and gardens, which feature sweeping views of Jews Bay, are the perfect spots to sip on a Dark ’n’ Stormy or enjoy a cigar procured from the inn’s impressive cigar selection.

The Menu: Carnivores will rejoice at the choice of steak dishes, including peppercorn crusted filet drizzled with cognac peppercorn sauce; a 20-ounce Kings Cut prime rib; and an 8-ounce filet served with creamy mushroom ragout. For delectable beef-free options, try the slow-roasted giant lobster tail or jumbo sea scallops wrapped in apple cider-cured bacon and served with spiced pear chutney. The consistently delicious and well-executed food has earned Waterlot Inn the 4-Diamond AAA award every year since 1989.

The Must-Have: Can’t decide between the island’s seafood offerings and prime steaks? Share the Surf and Turf Seafood Skewer for Two, a towering plate piled high with lobster, beef tenderloin, scallops and shrimp and served with Choron sauce. Finish the night off with a decadent dessert, like strawberry flambé served tableside.
