Shorts Supply Travel Video duration – 5.43 minutes Bermuda Fashion – Look Travel Video David Hamshere Owner, The English Sports Shop Good morning, I’m David Hamshere, the English Sports Shop, Bermuda. Welcome to the store. What can we do for you this morning? We have our beautiful Bermuda rugby shirts, our wonderful cotton crested sweaters, our beautiful crested Bermuda belts, we’ve got Bermuda perfumes, the original Royal Line, Bermuda motif ties, sports shirts, again crested, very easy and comfortable to wear and of course the most important thing is Bermuda rig as I’m wearing, the blazer, the shorts and the knee socks. It all began in the beginning of the 20th century when the British military officers that were stationed in Bermuda found that wearing long trousers was just too warm in this hot climate and so they were given permission to cut off at the knees. Hence Bermuda shorts were born. The officers would look strange wearing just their shorts, so it was decided that they would wear knee socks to finish the outfit and we Bermudians we’ve adopted the same thing and it gives us a great formal look and it’s become our national dress and we’re proud of the fact that shorts are known as Bermudas throughout the world. Well, let’s get down to business. Here we have the Bermuda short; I’ve laid out a few of the colors. It has a formal hem in it of at least two inches. That’s absolutely essential to keep the right balance and the right drape. Then we have the beautiful island colors. Look at this…yellow, coral…this coral happens to have pleats for the person that wants to have a fuller figure. For the more conservative person we have khaki, Bermuda blue, essential another wonderful color for weddings, we sell a lot for people who get married in Bermuda shorts. Beautiful contrast between the navy blazer and and you see here a beautiful navy blazer with a pink and three or four inches of knee between here and the knee sock and this is the start of a very happy marriage, believe me. And then, you have, could you imagine me wearing this and me wearing this? No I don’t think so. What is a clamdigger? It is a cutoff version of a trouser so when a man or a woman was going to dig clams, she rolled up her trouser bottoms and then some bright fashion…fashionista decided lets cutoff them and make them a fashion statement and here they are, I love them on women but on men?, Not in this establishment. You can see from the array of colors that we, I showed you in the shorts, we also do them in jackets and we also coordinate the ties you’ll see that this beautiful lime green jacket imagine that on a summer’s evening with a pair of beige or navy shorts. The colors basically are inspired originally from the colors of the ocean and this is why this color here is called ocean green. We have waves breaking over the reefs. This one came directly from shades that we picked up from that. The Bermuda blue is a shade that we again took from some of the swirling of the green and the phosphorescence in the water that gave us the blue. Coral, well, that started in the same same area. I mean what a gorgeous jacket that makes with a pair of navy blue, navy blue shorts. Beautiful tie, great dashing look for a man, ah but it started out from the color of our sand. We just took a little bit of the sand and played around with it. Wonderful wonderful wonderful colors. These jackets that I’ve shown you today, we coordinate them with the shorts, a Bermuda tie and that’s what people enjoy wearing out and it is so cool to wear in this hot sunshine. The English Sports Shop was established in 1918 and has remained in business ever since uninterrupted very successfully. Come on over, come and visit us, I’m personally ready to welcome you and we would be happy to see you here in Bermuda.
