The Fairmont Hamilton Princess opened its doors in 1885, quickly established its reputation as a refined and sophisticated Bermuda vacation destination, and has since enjoyed a long and glamorous history. Mark Twain was a regular guest, often spotted taking a cigar on the veranda; another famous literary guest, Ian Fleming, was inspired by the Gazebo Bar’s fish tanks and recreated them in his celebrated novel Dr. No. With its white-jacketed staff and impeccable service, The Fairmont Hamilton hotel in Bermuda has stood the test of time and has remained a favored Bermuda resort for refined holidaymakers throughout the past century. Located within the capital city of Hamilton, the resort is walking distance from city shops, restaurants and nightlife, and also has a complete offering of amenities and facilities for leisure, sport and relaxation.
The lobby’s crystal chandelier and vaulted ceiling establish a stately ambience, further enhanced by traditional Wedgwood china insets, plush seating and a large mahogany and marble fireplace. Rooms and suites, many with private balconies, are decorated in soothing creams and island pastels, with furnishings that reflect the resort’s Victorian heritage, like ornate woodwork, thick-pile carpets and luxe textiles. The Fairmont Gold wing, a more exclusive hotel-within-a-hotel, offers additional amenities, including a private Gold Salon with an honor bar, a dedicated concierge and cocktail hour canapés.
Restaurants at The Fairmont Hamilton Princess represent both the island’s Bermudian culture and historic European influence. The Heritage Court hosts a proper English high tea every afternoon, complete with silver tea service, fine linen and bone china, and offers an extensive menu of local favorites, like traditional fish chowder and grilled rockfish, for lunch and dinner. Serving bistro fare and prime steaks, Harley’s restaurant has both an indoor dining room and harborside terrace dining. This Best of Bermuda Gold award-winning restaurant is particularly popular for its Wednesday wine tastings and expansive formal brunch on Sundays. For more casual fare, H.P.’s Coffee Shop serves pastries, desserts, sandwiches, soups and coffee.
Despite being centrally located, The Fairmont Hamilton Princess maintains a relaxed resort atmosphere, due primarily to its spacious tanning decks and two outdoor swimming pools, one freshwater and one saltwater. There is also an on-site fitness room, a variety of on-site boutiques and shops and the Inverurie Day Spa, which offers a full menu of treatments using the organic products of Eminence Organic Skin Care from Hungary. Guests of the resort may travel by complimentary ferry to The Fairmont Southampton Resort and make use of the private beach club, golf course and tennis courts. The resort has been a popular destination for weddings and offers a range of services and planning assistance for all types of ceremonies
