As the island’s oldest cottage-style luxury resort on the island, Cambridge Beaches Resort and Spa has an almost 300-year-old reputation for excellence. Located on the western end of Bermuda, the resort is set on a 30-acre peninsula bordered by four private beaches. Akin to an upscale marine community or yacht club, this Bermuda resort’s sophisticated, refined atmosphere appeals to vacationing couples and families with adult children.
Surrounded by water and dense with lush greenery, the resort property is laid out like a village, with main buildings and paths leading to recreational facilities, pools and a scattering of unique cottages. Accommodations include rooms, suites and cottages, which each boast private outdoor space with views of the beach or the landscaped gardens. Cottages are all decorated in distinct styles, from ultra-hip modern decor to classic French-country style. Cottages can accommodate up to four guests and provide all of the comforts of a vacation home, including a dining room, two bedrooms, a fireplace and a living area. Rooms and suites are located in the main buildings and have comfortable furnishings and marble stonework baths.
Flavors abound at the resort’s three esteemed restaurants. Tamarisk, named one of Bermuda’s best restaurants by Food & Wine magazine, features a continuously changing five-course menu of international dishes. The chef at Tamarisk prides himself on using fresh, local fruits and seafood. Breezes, the seaside terrace restaurant open for lunch and dinner, recently developed a seafood market–style dinner, where guests order their fish to taste. The third restaurant, Shutters, is a more relaxed and casual dining venue next to the pool.
While lounging by the multilevel infinity pool is a popular way to spend the day, guests can also explore the four expansive, secluded beaches on the property. Countless aquatic sports are offered at the resort’s private marina, including fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving and sailing. Traditional activities are favored at Cambridge Beaches Resort and Spa, which is home to three tennis courts, a putting green and a croquet lawn. The concierge can arrange excursions to any one of Bermuda’s famed golf courses. As a contrast to all of the recreational diversions, the Ocean Spa provides a peaceful retreat for relaxation and renewal. Technicians are extensively trained in European and Asian techniques, and treatments incorporate high-end products from Sothys of Paris and Elixir Tonics, among other lines. Administered in Couples Suites, Aquarian Baths, Experience Suites and the Ocean Spa Pagoda, treatments run the gamut from facials to body work, nail care to reflexology, and prenatal massage to gentlemen’s facials.
